 Edgerton Elementary School

Welcome to our 2017-2018 school year at Edgerton Elementary! As we transition from summer to fall, our outstanding elementary staff is excited to get off to strong start to our school year.

This is my first year in the Edgerton Local School District and I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to serve such amazing students, supportive parents, and wonderful community. We have a very talented, experienced, and welcoming staff to support all of our students’ respective needs, along with energizing programs to make our students time at EES an enjoyable and safe learning experience.

While we are excited for our school year, we also understand the high expectations that both parents and community members have for our staff and serving our students. Through programs like Bulldog’s Best, PAX, Character Education, Perfect Attendance, we will continue to positively build both student academic skills as well as life skills. It is imperative for students to understand the importance of:
  • attending school every day to understand accountability
  • complete homework tasks to improve student responsibility
  • encourage other students to always treat others with respect
Along with teaching our children how to be successful students and community members, we will also continue to focus on academics and grade level content standards in order to meet and exceed state testing requirements. Elementary students will be assessed by the 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee, AIR, Terra Nova, STAR, and KRA measures this year. These assessments help to measure academic progress and the State of Ohio mandates that we test using these state-approved measures to provide student growth data for our students.

Maximizing student development and education is a team effort between school and home. I highly encourage parents to read to their elementary students 3 or 4 nights per week for about 15 to 20 minutes per night. Developing a routine where the parent and student cooperatively read to one another will help your student improve their ability to read and comprehend what is being read.

As we work through our school year, please let me know if you have any questions regarding Edgerton Elementary. We have an outstanding staff, wonderful facilities, and a supportive community that we look forward to serving during the 2017-18 school year, and we look forward to always doing what’s best for our students.

Yours in education,

Brent Saneholtz
